It’s Not About You
A Little Story About What Matters Most in Business

An all-new, inspiring parable from bestselling authors Bob Burg and John David Mann. If you’re a network marketer or business person who enjoyed ‘The Go-Giver’ and ‘Go-Givers Sell More’ you’ll love their most recent collaboration.

“In this story, as we re-visit Pindar’s town, a few familiar characters from The Go-Giver show up again, along with some brand new ones. The book’s lessons — expanding on Law #3: The Law of Influence from the original story — touch on influence and leadership, business and parenting, even life and death. We hope it will change the way people go about pursuing personal and business success.”

Enthusiasm for Network Marketing

Don’t you wish you could bottle ‘enthusiasm for network marketing’, the ‘on fire’ emotion that new distributors exhibit the day they decide, “I’m in!” and they join your company?

As it turns out, new distributors quickly discover that:

  • many people have negative preconceptions about network marketing and relatively few people are willing to consider joining the network marketing profession
  • of those who do “join us”, some become discouraged and quit.

Q: Is there a way to reduce attrition (number of people who give up)?
A: Yes, there are a number of ways. Here’s one, have new team members focus on the process, not just on their results:

Rick Hagar

Rick Hagar is a full-time network marketer who has previously built an organization of over 200,000 associates (team sales in the tens of millions). In the video, Rick briefly mentioned the ‘Law of Averages’, if there’s a secret in network marketing, S.I.N.A.L.O.A. (Safety In Numbers And Law Of Averages) is it. If you reach enough people, you will build a team and with persistence your team will very likely become huge.

FYI, I first learned about S.I.N.A.L.O.A. from Lawrence Thompson, who, surprisingly, is still most famous for his success at Herbalife.

Update: I’m no longer involved with network marketing.

>> Order Small Message, Big Impact

Network marketing professionals recognize that the very essence of communication is being able to deliver a short message that has a powerful impact. It’s no surprise that one of the best communicators out there decided to title her new book ‘Small Message, Big Impact’.

Terri Sjodin

Terri Sjodin is the principal and founder of Sjodin Communications, a public speaking, sales training and consulting firm. For over twenty years, Terri has served as a speaker and consultant to an impressive list of companies, industry associations, academic conferences, CEO’s, and Members of the United States Congress. She is the author of New Sales Speak: The 9 Biggest Sales Presentation Mistakes and How to Avoid Them (Wiley). Terri lives in Newport Beach, CA

Amazon says, “Small Message, Big Impact, provides an entertaining, straightforward, and practical how-to guide on effectively communicating an important message in a short period of time. She gives readers an inspiring new perspective on the power of what she calls the Elevator Speech Effect and shows them how to employ this amazing little tool to create influence in today’s market.”

In Small Message, Big Impact you will learn:

  • how a small message can have a big impact in helping you to communicate more effectively
  • how to build a compelling and persuasive case using six of the most consistently effective arguments in today’s market
  • how to repurpose your existing presentations; incorporate new creative illustrations, and bring your message to life
  • how to speak in your own authentic voice—it’s not only what you say, it’s how you say it
  • how to morph your elevator speech content and employ your best material in a variety of presentation opportunities, including the internet and on social media platforms.

“… Small Message, Big Impact is an insightful yet practical book that addresses the growing challenge of communicating a vitally important message in a very short time period. If your job depends on persuading others, you’ll find yourself inhaling the contents and breathing easier because your message will have more traction and you’ll persuade more people to take purposeful action.”
—Gerhard Gschwandtner, founder and publisher, Selling Power Magazine

Network Marketing Online Success

ICDSoft-WordPress-Genesis

Have you established the foundation for your future, network marketing online success?

Traditionally the search for new team members begins with recorded calls, brochures, samples, DVDs, and magazines. The idea is to contact 200 hundred people, you know, who live within 200 miles of where you do. Your goal is to get as many people as possible to a 3-way call or to your home business presentation.

My recommendation:

Build Your Online Foundation FIRST.

Twitter and Facebook are important, but you need a personal website and, no, your company provided website isn’t enough.

I’m often asked what’s the best way to build a website?

Here’s what I did, I:

  1. selected a domain name – FrankEves.com
  2. selected a web host – ICDSoft
  3. setup a self-hosted WordPress website
  4. chose a theme – Genesis Framework
  5. created content

Getting your voice out there, right away, is so important that I’ve just started offering my personally sponsored Xyngular team members a package that includes:

  • domain registration
  • 1 year of top quality web hosting
  • initial WordPress setup
  • the premium Genesis Framework
  • a premium StudioPress child theme (choose from these themes)
  • content and SEO advice

A value of $168.60, not including my time, for about $45.

Link deactivated, please see below.

>> learn more about Xyngular

Note: I’m only doing this for folks I personally sponsor.

Background: Like most network marketers, I struggled enrolling people until I decided to create my own leads, online. FYI, I personally enrolled over 1,400 people (customers and team members) in my last company. My Xyngular efforts will include helping team members use the online tools and strategies I’m utilizing.

Update 20111103: I’m no longer involved with network marketing.

RapidWeaver or WordPress

RapidWeaver or WordPress

RapidWeaver or WordPress: I was recently asked why I moved my websites from RapidWeaver to WordPress, the self-hosted variety.

Do you use RapidWeaver? Have you tested your website’s speed with Google’s Page Speed Online?

I was surprised to discover that a newly created WordPress site loaded about three times (3x) faster than my sites that were generated by RapidWeaver. I’ve since moved all of my websites to WordPress.

FYI, I previously described the tools I used to generate my network marketing personal website here.

Hello Bar

Hello Bar

Q: What’s a Hello Bar?
A: A well-designed, full-width, notification bar that magically appears at the top of your website.

Q: What does the Hello Bar do?
A: Attracts your visitor’s attention without being distasteful.

Q: Is it a useful tool for network marketing professionals?
A: Yes, if you have a personal website.

Q: Do I have to know javascript?
A: No.

Back in February (20110209) the folks at Digital Telepathy, the creators of the Hello Bar, reported that it had “served over 50,000,000 impressions and encouraged more than 500,000 new clicks.” That’s not surprising considering the Hello Bar is currently being used by some of the top marketers in the world, including Chris Brogan, Tim Ferriss, Seth Godin, Ramit Sethi and Gary Vaynerchuk.

I just started using Hello Bar at 1stWealth.com yesterday. I’ll let you know if it increases my sales.

If you’re using the Genesis Framework for WordPress here’s a tip, I chose to place the ‘Hello Bar,’ javascript snippet under Genesis – Theme Settings => Header/Footer Scripts in the footer script area. It’s working perfectly.

Enchantment Kawasaki

Enchantment book cover

‘Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions’ is Guy Kawasaki’s tenth book. I first encountered Guy when he was the ‘Chief Evangelist’ at Apple. I was impressed by Steve Jobs’ paradigm “Inventing the Future” and Guy did an awesome job, persuading people to believe in Apple’s products. One of Guy’s early books, ‘Selling the Dream’ is still a personal favourite.

Enchantment Kawasaki

Have you ever wanted to change the world or at least “influence what people will do while maintaining the highest standards of ethics?”

Guy’s salient subjects are:

  • why enchantment is necessary
  • the pillars of enchantment (likability, trustworthiness, and a great cause)
  • launching
  • overcoming resistance
  • making enchantment endure
  • using technology
  • enchanting your employees
  • enchanting your boss
  • resisting enchantment.

It’s an excellent book for network marketing professionals.

My favourite expert commentary is:

Robert Scoble

“You feel it when you drive a BMW, touch an Apple iPad, walk into a Sephora store, or buy shoes from Zappos. Kawasaki reveals how you can deliver the same enchanting experiences as these famous brands.”

Pyramid Scheme Cartoon

pyramid scheme cartoon

You’ve likely heard the saying, “Professionals sort, amateurs convince.”

Q: Why do we teach our teams to sort rather than convince?
A: Watch this cartoon.

Note: I’m not a fan of Pat Petrini’s chosen company XanGo, but he has created a clever and very amusing video. Well done Pat.

If you’re a network marketing professional, you’ve been asked:

  • “Is this one of those things?” or heard
  • “This sounds like a pyramid scheme”

many times.

I use an online video to educate folks, so that I don’t have to.
